First-person, in three dimensions. A solo run can be finished offline. The story happens while you play.
A goal appears when you reach it. The opening does not hand you a list.
Solving a device is part of the run, alongside explore, hide, and being chased. It is not a side note.
You can hide. Hiding is play, not a cutscene after a failure.
You can be chased. Being chased and hiding are two different things.
Failure does not restart the run. You continue along the path the failure opened.
There is no mid-run save.
Leaving to the menu marks the run unfinished, at 0.
The ending is a good wake, or a bad wake.
Each run reseeds the space.

There is no picture made for playing together, so this section is text only.
Up to 4 people. The same session and the same stretch of story, different characters. More people means more people inside the story.
You can start together, or split sides inside the nightmare. It is not a fight against each other.
The together maps are not the solo set. You can also download someone else’s map, story included, plus achievements and a map ranking. The server only syncs.
